Finding a Surrogate in Georgia

A gestational carrier or surrogate is someone who agrees to carry a pregnancy for an individual or couple, the intended parents. In our history, Fertility Source Companies has collaborated with more than 4,500 IPs in the United States and internationally, doing our very best to help them achieve success in surrogacy.

Surrogacy Laws in Georgia

At this time, there are no specific laws or regulations concerning surrogacy in Georgia. Historically, the state has had a friendly approach toward surrogacy, with the courts being favorable toward surrogacy arrangements and legal proceedings. As long as an attorney with reproductive law experience drafts the appropriate contracts, surrogacy arrangements are considered valid and enforceable. These attorneys, in a sense, serve as a bridge between IPs and gestational surrogates, being responsible for establishing the rights, responsibilities, compensation, contact expectations, and birth plans.

Georgia Surrogate Costs & Fees

In Georgia, typically, you can expect a price range of $100,000 to $125,000 for total surrogacy costs. This encompasses the $50,000 base surrogacy fee, allotted in installments. These payments will continue every month that the surrogate is pregnant, with the balance due within 7 days of delivery. The initial $28,000 agency fee will also be included in this amount. Additionally, IPs will be required to reimburse the surrogate for her living expenses, such as a $350 monthly allowance, an embryo transfer fee, a maternity clothing fee, and other miscellaneous charges. How Surrogates Are Screened in Georgia

At Fertility Source Companies, we emphasize the safety and security of all parties involved in a surrogacy arrangement. Georgia surrogates are required to undergo extensive screenings to ensure they’ll be able to complete the entire surrogacy process. To evaluate physical and mental health, candidates undergo diverse medical screenings, including a pelvic exam and assorted tests, such as those for sexually transmitted diseases (STD), drug use, and specific disorders, like hepatitis. Their reproductive history and past pregnancies will be evaluated by our staff registered nurse to ensure there have been no complications in the past. Lastly, surrogates must also have background checks and psychological evaluations conducted by mental health professionals.

Ensuring our surrogates’ continued good health is paramount. Beyond looking out for their welfare, this also improves the likelihood of pregnancies achieving successful outcomes. • Being a United States citizen or having the right to legally work in this country.
  • No need to rely on federal or state assistance
  • Being a non-smoker and no drug use

The Surrogacy Process

Should you qualify as a Fertility Source Companies surrogate, you’ll first have to apply. For acceptance in our candidate database, you must provide medical records and undergo background checks and mental and physical health screenings. Once registered, you’ll be matched up with hopeful IPs, in an online meeting. After you’ve successfully matched, you’ll need to complete the following steps.

  • Have a comprehensive physical exam, conducted by the intended parent’s chosen fertility specialist.
  • Sign a surrogacy agreement with an attorney.
  • Self-inject yourself with a series of hormonal medications to prepare for pregnancy, usually once per day, for about 12 days.
  • Undergo the embryo transfer procedure.
  • Agree to various ultrasounds and blood tests to confirm pregnancy.
  • Meet with your local obstetrician (OB) for regular pregnancy visits and delivery.

It’s not uncommon for surrogates and IPs to have questions or concerns about the surrogacy process, at least initially. Fertility Source Companies understands this, and our team will help you at every stage. To put you at ease, many of our staff members were themselves surrogates. They’re very knowledgeable of the process and are always ready to offer vital, next-level support. We welcome you to learn more about the surrogacy process.

Surrogacy Pay & Compensation in Georgia

Georgia gestational surrogates can typically expect to make about $50,000 for their base pay, which includes all incurred expenses. However, it’s important to realize that payment only begins once the baby’s fetal heart rate is detected. Surrogates will receive eight monthly payments, being paid as long as the surrogate is pregnant, and the balance will be due within seven days of delivery. Additionally, you’ll be compensated for other out-of-pocket expenses, such as medical needs, travel, or maternity clothes. Find out more about surrogate compensation and pay.
